Soldotna City Manager resigns

It was a night of goodbyes at Wednesday’s Soldotna city council meeting.

And not just for outgoing council member Regina Daniels and Mayor Pete Sprague. After meeting in executive session for more than an hour, the council unanimously accepted the resignation of city manager Mark Dixon.

Dixon did not explain publicly why he tendered his resignation, and Mayor Sprague couldn’t speak to what was discussed during that executive session.

“The only thing I will add is that I have the utmost confidence in the council and our administration as we move forward through this transition," Sprague said.

That transition is expected to take a couple of months at least. Until a new city manager is hired, Director of Economic Development and Planning, Stephanie Queen, will fill in as manager. The council meets next on October 25th, the first meeting for returning mayor Dr. Nels Anderson and council member Keith Baxter.
