Drift River terminal expected to close with installation of new pipeline

Harvest Pipeline Co

A subsidiary of Hilcorp has applied for changes to its pipeline system that would allow oil to be piped from the west side of Cook Inlet to Nikiski.

Harvest Pipeline company has submitted an application to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska for the $75 million project, that would eliminate tanker shipments of oil coming from the Drift River terminal on the west side of Cook Inlet.

Onshore pipeline construction is slated to begin in December of this year. Next spring, a new offshore gas line from the Tyonek pipeline will be installed as part of the project. Harvest plans to have oil flowing through the new pipeline by the end of 2018, at which the Drift River Terminal will start being shut down.
