AGDC extends public comment period for highway reroute plan

Alaska Gasline Development Corporation

The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation has extended the public comment period for the Kenai Spur Highway rerouting project.

AGDC has held a number of public meetings, most recently in February about plans to move a section of the highway inland to make way the the AK LNG project.

Two options are on the table now. One would branch off around milepost 18 and go between Miller Loop and the current highway’s path. The other would go east of Miller Loop and both would rejoin the existing road at mile 25. As many as 35 property owners could be affected by moving the road.

Public comments will now be taken until March 30th. A revised report and alternative route will be presented sometime toward the end of June. AGDC hopes to have details, and investors, in place by this summer for the roughly $45 billion dollar project.
